Our Favorite Places

Sit-Down Restaurants

Each has a must-get specialty

  • Must order a martini here.

  • Great Greek Food, Great Atmosphere

  • Elevated Vietnamese, still casual, in the Inner Richmond with the best Waygu Beef Carpaccio. It comes with bone marrow :)

  • The Progress is one of our favorite San Francisco restaurants. It also happens to be where Ben first met Alice's parents.

The restaurant group behind The Progress runs the entire block in the Western Addition. This includes State Bird Provisions and Anchovy Bar. State Bird gets most of the hype and can be difficult to get reservations, but The Progress is actually our favorite of the three.

If you have four people, request a booth seat when you make your reservation and we typically order the duck.

Skip the stress of trying to get into State Bird and just go to The Progress

  • You are greeted with a silver platter of potato chips - so always off to a good start. Great location in the Marina to hang out after but incredibly crowded so be prepared to sit at the bar or wait.

  • Our favorite sushi and a surprise birthday spot from Alice’s friends :) The cookie dough dessert is the ultimate.

  • The spicy cilantro marg is the best.

  • KBBQ with insanely hard reservations but sooooo good.

  • Casual. My favorite wood-eared mushroom salad. Great dumplings and good street to shop around on!

  • Casual. Best fresh spring rolls in the city. Also the only time I’ve found a place that serves chicken cartilage :)

No reservations but if you go early you will have no problem getting a table.

  • Classic San Francisco restaurant in the Mission with great food and cocktails.

  • Where we celebrated our engagement with a seafood tower :) Located right on the Embarcadero near the water. EPIC next door is also great.

  • If the weather isn’t too cold and you can sit outside - little shucker is great for oysters and crudo.

  • Best fried chicken hands down. Everything is delicious.

Takeout Restaurants

For DoorDashing if it’s rainy.

  • Get the dino beef ribs and the regular ribs. Skip the brisket!

  • We order from here every other Saturday morning.

    Here is your order:

    • Crunchy Nem Rolls

    • Imperial Rolls

    • Fresh Shrimp Spring Rolls

    • Eye Round Steak and Beef Balls Pho

    • Grilled Pork Sandwich

    • Strawberry Smoothie

    • 2 Mojito Style Lemonades

    • 2 Diet Cokes

  • Ben is obsessed with this place. He always orders the chicken tenders and either the Fattoush or the Clucker salad. Sometimes the tater tots.

  • They do have the best chicken broth and all men seem to love this place.

  • Best chicken caesar wrap - not overrated.

Grocery Stores

That we go to >3X a week

  • The jerky and meat sticks to the right of the register.

  • Just absolute heaven. The truffle brie is insane.

  • Great Seafood Section

Adventures

Around Town and Nearby

  • Do the Whole Hog Tour if you can. It is only on Tuesdays at 11AM but well worth the trip up to Marshall and Point Reyes

  • So gorgeous on the beach but might be rainy. Afterwards you can get the best crab sandwich at Spud Point

  • We prefer that over the Legion of Honor (unless there is a good exhibition). Then explore Golden Gate Park.
